Mark Webber regrets 2012 inconsistency

Mark Webber has said that his inconsistency, particularly in the second half of the season, cost him a shot at the 2012 title. Webber was within reach of championship leader Fernando Alonso after victories in Monaco and Britain, but fell back to eventually finish a distant sixth in the points. 'I was in a great position to challenge for the championship after that victory at Silverstone. Unfortunately, the season unravelled a bit for me after that', he wrote in his BBC Sport column. 'Ultimately consistency, which is one of the areas that has been very strong for me in the past, wasn't there. That was down to a whole raft of things, including a few own goals which we have to improve on...
