Ferrari decides not to run Alonso in first test

Fernando Alonso will not participate in the first pre-season test in Spain next month with Ferrari opting to run Felipe Massa and recently appointed development driver Pedro de la Rosa at Jerez. Massa will debut the new Ferrari on the track on February 5 and will develop the car on three of the first four days of the test before handing it to de la Rosa for the final outing at the Spanish circuit. Alonso will get a taste of the car on the first day of the second test, which begins on February 19 at Catalunya. The Italian team’s schedule for the three tests provides Massa six days in the car, five for Alonso and the solitary one for de la Rosa. Ferrari will be unveiling its new car on...
