No friends at Toro Rosso

Jean-Eric Vergne says he and fellow Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo are no longer friends, as the youngster's battle for a spot with the senior Red Bull team. The Austrian-firm's young driver programme has developed a reputation for being cutthroat - as demonstrated by the axing of Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari at the end of the 2011 season. Both drivers know that if they fail to impress they too could follow their predecessors out of the Red Bull programme and with a potential vacancy alongside Sebastian Vettel, should Mark Webber retire, up for grabs, Vergne knows there is no room for niceties on the track.
