Button passes 1000-point mark in off-pace McLaren

Jenson Button reached a significant milestone at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday despite finishing a disappointing ninth on a track he had won at in three of the previous four races. The McLaren driver crossed the 1000-point mark in Formula 1 but it is unlikely that he would add too much to that tally this season considering the state of this year’s car. “Although that’s a nice stat, it doesn’t ease the pain caused by the knowledge that our car still needs a lot of work done before it’s properly competitive,” Button said adding that he was surprised to have finished ahead of Romain Grosjean and that he held up Mark Webber in the race for quite some...
