Van der Garde to miss four FP1 sessions

Caterham driver Giedo van der Garde is set to miss four opening practice sessions this season, with the team opting to give its reserve drivers, Alexander Rossi and Ma Qing Hua, Grand Prix weekend experience. The Dutchman, who held a reserve role with the Leafield-based squad in 2012, will step aside for the first time in Bahrain. "As it stands I will lose four Friday sessions," van der Garde explained to GPUpdate.net. "The first one I won’t be driving is in Bahraiin. I would have rather be driving these sessions myself and get as much track time as possible, but this is in the contract and I’m sure it will be good experience for these guys.
