Alonso: 'Ferrari lacked pace'

Fernando Alonso has admitted his Ferrari lacked the pace of its rivals during Sunday's Monaco GP even before his F138 lost aerodynamic performance when a stray piece of bodywork from Sergio Perez's McLaren became lodged in his front-wing. Despite only qualifying in sixth place for Sunday's grand prix, Alonso had been expected to feature prominently in the battle for a podium finish on account of the Ferrari's tendency to be far more competitive in race trim than for qualifying.
