FIA calls emergency meeting over tyres

FIA president Jean Todt has called an emergency meeting in Paris on Wednesday to discuss and find a solution to the tyre 'explosions' which dominated the British Grand Prix. Todt has summoned Pirelli and the Sporting Working Group (SWG), which consists of representatives from all 11 teams. The FIA are keen to find a solution to the problem which saw five cars suffer tyre failures - Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa, Jean-Eric Vergne, Esteban Gutierrez and Sergio Perez. Meanwhile Nico Rosberg, Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg confirmed they too suffered punctures, but were able to pit before the tyre broke apart.
