F1 drivers association play down boycott threats 5 July, 2013 Sebastian Vettel GPDA director and world champion Sebastian Vettel back-pedalled on Friday, after the drivers' union earlier threatened to boycott his home race this weekend. Pirelli and the FIA's reaction since the Silverstone chaos, allied with the vastly different characteristics of the Nurburgring, meant that Friday was a smooth day of practice, hosting no noteworthy tyre problems. Pedro de la Rosa, the Grand Prix Drivers' Association president, began the day in Germany insisting the word ‘boycott' should not be used.
