“We were never at risk of folding” - Kaltenborn
Sauber Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn says that accounts of the team’s financial plight prior to securing Russian investment were exaggerated, and that the Hinwil-based outfit was never at risk of going bankrupt. In the days prior to announcing the deal, owner Peter Sauber had described the situation as "uncomfortable and embarrassing", and rumours abounded that driver Nico Hulkenberg had been released from the terms of his contract.
