Prac One: Alonso P1 in changing conditions
Fernando Alonso set the pace in Friday's opening practice session at Spa but it was the weather that controlled proceedings.
As the rain came down at the Belgian circuit in the lead up to FP1, the session began on a wet track with Jenson Button setting the pace with a 2:00.510.
It wasn't until halfway through practice that the real running got underway as the improving conditions meant more drivers ventured out.
This sparked a frantic battle for the P1 slot with the Mercs, Mercedes, Force Indias and the Red Bulls all taking a turn at the front.
However, just before the rain returned it was Alonso who went quickest with a 1:55.198 on the hard Pirelli tyres.
