Injured Räikkönen vows to start race

Kimi Räikkönen has vowed to contest the Singapore Grand Prix, despite suffering a back issue that played a role in his exit from the second qualifying phase on Saturday. The Lotus driver, who will start the race from 13th position, has been hit with severe pain due to a trapped nerve. Although he took part in qualifying, it is understood that the Enstone-based team was close to calling up reserve driver Davide Valsecchi. "This morning was very bad," said Räikkönen, referring to the pain he suffered in the final practice session. "I couldn't really try, so we probably didn't get done what we wanted.
