Sato to be Sauber reserve driver
Japanese driver Kimiya Sato will attend this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka as Sauber's reserve driver, the Swiss team said on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Sato will act as back-up for German Nico Hulkenberg, fresh from an impressive fourth-placed finish in South Korea, and Mexican Esteban Gutierrez. Sato, who is no relation of former F1 driver Takuma Sato – who drove for Jordan, BAR and Super Aguri from 2002 to 2008 – has already tested for Sauber at Silverstone back in July. He raced in the Auto GP series this year, winning five races, as many as former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan, on his way to a second-placed overall finish.
