De Villota, 33, found dead in hotel room in Spain

Former Formula 1 tester Maria de Villota was found dead on Friday morning in a hospital in Seville, Spain despite the efforts of emergency services who attempted to revive her. The ex-Marussia test driver, who lost her right eye during a straightline test in England last year, is believed to have lost her life due to natural causes, although it is yet to be confirmed. The 33-year-old de Villota, daughter of former Formula 1 driver Emilio, was due to launch her book – entitled ‘Life is a gift’ - on Monday.
