Salo: Lotus should sign Kovalainen

Ex-Formula 1 driver believes that Heikki Kovalainen is the ideal candidate to take the Lotus seat vacated by Kimi Räikkönen for the final two races of the 2013 campaign. Having announced that he is to undergo back surgery, Räikkönen has left Lotus with a race on its hands to find a replacement. And although Davide Valsecchi is on hand as a third driver, Salo reckons Caterham reserve Kovalainen would be a wiser move. "I have thought about this for a while and I think getting Heikki would be a smart idea," Salo explained during an interview with Finnish broadcaster MTV. "He has experience and miles underneath him, and has up to the last race driven in practice sessions....
