FIA confirm pole position trophy for 2014

The FIA has confirmed that a pole position trophy will be introduced for the 2014 season after releasing the 2014 F1 Sporting Regulations. The award will be handed to the driver with the most pole position's each season. If there is a tie, the trophy will be given to the driver with the most second places, third places and so on until a winner is confirmed. It was tabled for discussion at the F1 Strategy Group's meeting on December 9th and has now been added to next year's regulations. The idea came out of a suggestion to award points for pole position.
