Kubica crashes out after promising start

– Robert Kubica's promising start to the Monte Carlo Rally came to an end when he crashed on Friday. The Pole, 29, found himself the lead after Thursday's opening two stages and, although he dropped back amid further snowfall, he finished the day inside the top three, behind Chris Meeke and Bryan Bouffier. But as the second day of the event progressed, Kubica hit trouble on SS9, losing control of his M-Sport Ford and falling down a ditch. Although both crew members were unhurt, the car sustained significant damage. Rally 2 regulations, which allow a driver to re-enter on the following day, are not valid for Monte Carlo.
