Pilbeam leaves Lotus to join McLaren 22 January, 2014 Ciaron Pilbeam Mark Webber's former Red Bull race engineer Ciaron Pilbeam has joined McLaren after a year with Lotus as chief engineer. McLaren are strengthening their technical team in the wake of a way below par 2013 season, in which the team failed to score a single poidum finish. Pilbeam is the latest of several senior personnel to depart Lotus amid reports of financial problems afflicting the Enstone based outfit ahead of the 2014 season. (GP247)
