Lewis Hamilton suffers high-speed incident after front-wing failure

Lewis Hamilton has suffered a high-speed incident during the opening day of the first test at Jerez, after the Briton lost his front-wing on the run down to Turn 1 and speared into the retaining gravel and tyre barriers. Prior to his incident, Hamilton had been one of the most active drivers of the morning period, completing numerous laps in the W05. Due largely to the alterations in the technical regulations ahead of the new season, the morning period had featured very little track action from the participating drivers, with only Lewis Hamilton and Jean-Eric Vergne producing official timed laps prior to the 2008 World Champion’s incident.
