P2: Alonso fastest at Monaco
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso emerged on top in a late scramble for laps in Practice Two at the Monaco GP after a big lunchtime hailstorm had led teams to tread carefully for the majority of the session.Although the morning's running on the tortuous street circuit had proved dry, grey clouds had began to menacingly move in over the usually picturesque Principality and a massive hailstorm duly fell on the harbourside circuit in the break between sessions.
While it had stopped raining by the time of Practice Two, the 3.34km track was doused with water and, with the circuit slippery at the best of times at the start of a race weekend, teams opted to keep their powder dry for the first half an...
