Briatore to assist Formula 1 popularity drive
– Ex-Formula 1 team boss Flavio Briatore is set to be involved in a new working group being put together by Bernie Ecclestone with the aim of boosting the sport's popularity and appealing to the next generation of fans.Ecclestone, who has come under pressure amid falling television figures, held a meeting with team chiefs in Hungary on Saturday, outlining plans to host a summit in the near future with Briatore and a handful of squads.Briatore has not been involved in F1 since leaving Renault in 2009 after his part in fixing the result of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, when Nelson Piquet, Jr. strategically crashed to pave the way for Fernando Alonso to win.The Italian has regularly...
