Rosberg leads Spa FP1 by 0.097s from Hamilton
Championship leader Nico Rosberg led the times in the opening practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix on Friday as the Formula One season resumed after the summer break. The German was just 0.097 seconds quicker than title rival and Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton over the 7-kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit, highlighting the close affair between the two who have been locked in the championship battle this season. Fernando Alonso was two-tenths slower in third in his Ferrari ahead of Jenson Button, with the Mercedes-powered McLaren 0.827 seconds off the pace.
