Merhi: I've got to prove myself with Caterham practice run
+ Roberto Merhi says his chances of racing with Caterham beyond his initial run in opening practice at the Italian Grand Prix depends on his performance on Friday morning.
Merhi, currently second in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship, will get his first taste of a Formula 1 car during free practice one at Monza, when he takes over at the wheel of Kamui Kobayashi’s Caterham CT05 for the 90-minute long session.
“Tomorrow is a hard situation,” the Spaniard told reporters in Monza. “You need to prove that you are ready to race and you need to try to build up your confidence on the car, but you have just one hour and a half in practice and two sets of new tires.
