'Contamination' caused Rosberg's Singapore retirement
Mercedes has officially announced the cause of Nico Rosberg's retirement from the Singapore Grand Prix.
The German driver was forced to exit the race on lap 13, having started from the pit lane after failing to get away from the grid for the formation lap.
The Brackley-based outfit said on Twitter that the problem was caused by the electronic circuits in the steering wheel being contaminated with a foreign substance.
An intermittent short circuit in the electronic circuits meant Rosberg was unable to command clutch and engine settings.
Forensic analysis has revealed that the steering column electronic circuits were contaminated with a foreign substance #F1 #SingaporeGP
