Rosberg tops final Japan practice as Hamilton crashes
Nico Rosberg topped the third and final practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday while Mercedes teammate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton crashed out. The German led the timesheets by nearly a second from Hamilton with Mercedes heading another one-two, but the Briton’s crash late into the session robbed him a chance of closing the gap. Hamilton appeared to carry too much pace into Turn 1 when he went wide into the tarmac runoff area, lost grip as he locked up and careened straight into the barriers.
