Lotus closing in on Merc deal

Lotus say only "paperwork with Renault" are stopping them from confirming their engine deal with Mercedes-Benz. After two highly successful seasons during which they won two races and scored several podiums, the Enstone squad have been brought back down to earth this campaign as they have picked up only eight points after 15 rounds. A lot of their problems have been down to the Renault engine with the French manufacturer struggling to come to grips with the new V6 engines.
