Palmer clinches title with victory
Sutton Images Enlarge Jolyon Palmer sealed the GP2 title in fine style as he held off Mitch Evans to win the feature race at the Sochi Autodrom. Palmer benefited from a perfectly-executed strategy and the bad luck of Stoffel Vandoorne, who narrowly missed the pits when the safety car came out on lap eight. From that point on all Palmer had to do was resist the charging Evans - looking to claim a victory for Russian Time at its home race. The misfortune suffered by title rival Felipe Nasr also aided Palmer's cause, with the Brazilian serving two drive-through penalties after messily exceeding track limits on the opening lap.
