Audi calls talk of F1 entry 'pure speculation'
Audi has moved to pour cold water on rumours suggesting that it could be set to enter Formula 1 in the near future, calling it 'pure speculation'.
Reports claimed that the German marque was set to turn its back on the FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans in favour of a move into F1 for the 2016 season.
Audi has been hugely successful in the LMP1 category, winning the WEC title in 2012 and 2013 to go alongside its 13 wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past 15 years.
Although the marque does discuss a potential entry into F1 each year, it has not yet plotted a firm assault on the series, and responded to the reports in a post on its Facebook page.
