FIA introduces points system for obtaining super licences

The FIA has further tightened the criteria required to obtain a super licence by introducing a new points system that rewards drivers depending on their achievements in junior formulae. Following the final meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in December last year, it was confirmed that a minimum age of 18 would come into effect for the 2016 season following 17-year-old Max Verstappen's rapid rise into a seat at Toro Rosso. This new points system sees drivers require at least 40 points over a three year period to be eligible for a super licence. The biggest score is for a 'future FIA F2 championship', which would see the top three drivers receive enough points to secure an F1 seat....
