Alonso airlifted to Hospital after testing crash

Fernando Alonso was airlifted to hospital during the final morning of the pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya after crashing his McLaren-Honda. The Spaniard lost control on the exit of turn three and spun into the inside wall, and was taken as a precaution to the medical centre, who in turn sent him to hospital. Officials both within McLaren and at the circuit insisted Alonso was conscious and talking. The McLaren driver had been playing catch-up after the part to replace the seal that failed during Saturday’s running arrived late, and had completed twenty laps of the Spanish circuit, and was sitting fifth fastest overall after being delayed in the pits by over two hours.
