Barcelona Day 2: Rosberg and Mercedes in another league

Nico Rosberg finally let the cat out the Mercedes bag as he scorched around Circuit de Catalunya 1.2 seconds faster than anyone else on day two of the final preseason test in Barcelona. The reigning world champions kept their powder dry for the previous nine days of testing, but with a set of Pirelli softs bolted on to the W06 for the first time this winter, Rosberg set a best time of 1:22.792 which immediately set the record straight up and down the pitlane – if there were any doubts they are now dispelled as Mercedes are way ahead, and alarmingly they have probably increased the gulf between themselves and their rivals.
