Horner suggests ‘controversial' wind tunnel ban

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has suggested a ban on wind tunnels in order to cut costs, but admitted that his suggestion is controversial. Cost cutting in F1 has been a ‘hot topic' for some years, arguably never more so than the year following one that saw two teams leave the grid. Although ‘pay to drive' drivers are by no means new in F1, they seem to be on the increase and their sponsorship increasingly critical to the teams. This is demonstrated by the situation Sauber now find themselves in, having (possibly illegally) disposed of the services of one pay driver for one with more sponsorship.
