Sauber sits out practice amid legal issues
The Sauber Formula One team did not take part in Friday's opening practice session at the Australian Grand Prix as the legal challenge by driver Giedo van der Garde continued. The Dutch driver was at the track on Friday for a seat fitting after a ruling by the Supreme Court of the state of Victoria ordering Sauber to honour his contract this season despite having signed contracts with drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr instead. All three drivers were in the trackside garage Friday, but none participated in practice. A contempt of court hearing is scheduled for later in the day in which lawyers for van der Garde will argue the team had not made sufficient efforts to fully restore...
