F1: Pirelli confident lap records with fall

Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery believes Formula 1 will see 'a significant reduction in lap times' and expects lap records to be broken around a number of Grand Prix circuits this season. The tyre manufacturer has collated its lap time data from last weekend's Australian Grand Prix and compared it to the 2014 race which showed a vast improvement in times from Free Practice 1 to the race itself. Pirelli demonstrated the quickest lap time recorded last year was a 1m 29.375s in Free Practice 3 on the soft tyre but that time was smashed by three seconds after Lewis Hamilton set his pole position lap of 1m 26.327s.
