Pirelli expecting record lap times in 2015

Pirelli Media Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says that lap records at some circuits this year may be challenged due to the increased performance of the 2015 cars. During last year's Australian Grand Prix, the fastest time during the third practice session was a 1:29.375, but this year that benchmark was lowered to a 1:27.867 during the same session - comparisons with qualifying is not possible due to 2014's wet running. Pirelli says that while a lot of the lap time is down to chassis and engine development, a new rear construction on the tyres has aided this improvement.
