Hamilton takes Canada pole position

Lewis Hamilton won a private battle for pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix with Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton put behind him a messy final practice session, in which he was slowest of all, to take his sixth pole in seven races this year by 0.309 seconds. Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest as team-mate Sebastian Vettel was only 16th following a hybrid system failure. Valtteri Bottas's Williams was fifth from the Lotus of Romain Grosjean.
