#17 retired in Jules Bianchi s honour

Jules Bianchi's racing number is to be retired from use in F1 as a tribute to the Frenchman, following his death over the weekend. The Marussia F1 driver passed away as a result of head injuries sustained in an accident during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. He had been in a coma for nine months and died aged just 25. In honour of the late driver, the FIA has confirmed his #17 racing number will be retired and unavailable from use by any other driver in Formula 1. Bianchi's funeral takes place in his home city of Nice, France on Tuesday July 21st at 10am
