1997 F1 Champ Jacques Villeneuve joins Venturi Formula E

1997 Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve has joined the Venturi Formula E team for the series second season. He replaces the outgoing Nick Heidfeld. The 11 time Grand Prix winner will line up for Venturi alongside Stephane Sarrazin, who remains with the team. Nick Heidfeld, who suffered a series of misfortunes in races throughout the first season, has opted to leave. Villeneuve, who left F1 midway through 2006 while racing with BMW Sauber, says he's excited about a return to full time racing: 'It had been 10 years since I had driven on that kind of track with a single-seater, but it's like riding a bike, you never forget.
