Grosjean goes from hero to zero at Monza

Romain Grosjean, a driver well versed in the opposing fortunes of F1, received an untimely reminder of how fickle the sport can be as his podium finish at Spa was followed by a first corner exit at Monza. Grosjean and the Lotus team were confident that the flat-out nature of the Autodromo Nazionale would suit the Mercedes-powered E23 in much the same way as the majestic sweeps of Spa and, like team-mate Pastor Maldonado, the Frenchman qualified inside the top ten on Saturday afternoon.
