Rosberg quickest on Friday in Austin as rain washes out FP2

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg set the pace on Friday in practice for this weekend’s 2015 F1 United States Grand Prix, although with the opening session wet at the Circuit of the Americas and the second session cancelled, running was heavily limited. Rosberg posted the marker for the day, a 1 minute 53.989s, in the second third of FP1, leaving him 1.235s up on Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat, while Daniel Ricciardo was third in the other RB11. Rosberg, however, only did 7 laps on the intermediates tyres. Behind, Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz came in fourth, with Championship leader, Lewis Hamilton fifth.
