Palmer confirmed as second Lotus driver for 2016 season

Lotus has confirmed that British driver Jolyon Palmer will join Pastor Maldonado for the 2016 season, replacing the Haas-bound Romain Grosjean. Palmer currently holds a reserve role with the Enstone team and has taken part in a number of free practice sessions this season. The 2014 GP2 champion was among a list of many, including Jean-Eric Vergne and Kevin Magnussen, in the running for the seat, with Vergne thought to ve favourite if Renault completed its takeover.
