Sainz Jr. beats Verstappen in qualifying battle

– Carlos Sainz Jr. secured a top 10 starting position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and in turn prevailed over Toro Rosso team-mate Max Verstappen in the pair's qualifying battle.The duo had each finished ahead in nine sessions this year and Sainz Jr. edged out Verstappen by 0.039s in the second knockout session at the Yas Marina Circuit to claim 10th on the grid, with the Dutchman 11th."I'm very pleased and happy with today, especially after such a difficult day yesterday," Sainz Jr. said, referring to his stoppage in the second practice session."I definitely needed a clean Saturday.
