Verstappen receives three penalty points

Max Verstappen has been handed three penalty points on his licence as a result of two separate driving infringements during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Toro Rosso driver was demoted from 12th to 16th position after receiving a 20 second time penalty for ignoring blue flags, which followed a five second penalty for gaining an advantage by exceeding track limits. After reviewing the incidents, stewards chose to issue two penalty points for the blue flag infringement with a single point awarded for the incident that saw Verstappen pass Jenson Button while off the race track.
