John Surtees receives CBE in New Year Honours

1964 Formula 1 world champion John Surtees has been made a CBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours. Surtees, 81, is the only man to have won world championships on both two and four wheels after also claiming four 500cc titles between 1956 and 1960 before entering F1. In the New Year's Honours list released on Wednesday night, Surtees is recognised for 'services to motorsport' and made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Surtees was initially awarded an MBE before having it upgraded to an OBE back in 2008, and has been subject to a long-running fan campaign to be awarded a knighthood. Surtees is the only motorsport personality featuring on the New Years Honours list....
