Berger: In my day F1 was like riding on a cannonball

Gerhard Berger thinks Formula 1 is not the spectacle it once was. 'Yes,' the Austrian F1 legend and former McLaren and Ferrari driver told German-language Motorsport Magazin at amid the Kitzbuhel ski slopes. 'We have a somewhat difficult time in F1. 'On the one hand we have seen a very dominant Mercedes. Of course, if someone has done their homework and performed well, they deserve respect and should be rewarded,' said Berger. But he also thinks F1 has lost some of the excitement of the past. 'In my time,' said the 56-year-old, 'it was not clear after the first corner who would win the race.
