Time goes Speeding by...

Former Toro Rosso driver Scott Speed turns 33 today, but here he is in his Formula One prime as he parties on down in Sao Paulo on October 22 2006, at the celebrations marking the end of his first season of Grand Prix competition. Speed was that rarest of things, an American driver in modern day Formula One. After his time in the world championship was cut short (he parted company with the team in July 2007 when they decided to replace him with rising star Sebastian Vettel), there wouldn't be another racing driver from the US to compete in Formula One until Alexander Rossi lined up on the grid at the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix for Marussia. Speed never did manage to score any championship...
