2016 Mercedes W06 and Sauber C35 passes crash test Defending world champion Mercedes and Sauber becomes latest F1 team to pass FIA mandatory crash test and they joins Ferrari, Renault F1, Force India, Haas F1, Toro Rosso and Manor in confirming its car has passed the tests. All teams needed pass chassis crash-test before the car takes to the track at Barcelona on 22 February. “It is a very significant increase,” Mercedes executive director Paddy Lowe said in a video released by his Mercedes team. “It is five tonnes of load that the chassis has to take sideways.
