Ferrari error hands Nico win

Nico Rosberg won the Australian GP after a strategy error from Ferrari handed the race victory to the Silver Arrows. Sebastian Vettel had stormed into the lead at the start, but Mercedes' decision to put Rosberg onto medium tyres during a red flag period proved an inspired decision. The red flag was caused by a huge accident for Fernando Alonos who hit the rear of Esteban Gutierrez's Haas in the braking zone for Turn Three. After being fired into the barrier, the McLaren car dug into the gravel sending the Spaniard barrel rolling. Fortunately Alonso was able to get out of the car unaided and walked away. The red flag did play into the hands of Lewis Hamilton who had a nightmare opening...
