Ecclestone ‘certain’ Monza will get new Italian GP deal

F1 commercial rights boss Bernie Ecclestone says he is “certain” that Monza will secure a new deal to continue hosting the Italian Grand Prix after the 2016 edition. The iconic venue’s future has been in the balance for several months until a new legislation allowed increased funding for the race. The move initially led Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of the Automobile Club d’Ialia (ACI), to say he was confident of a new seven-year agreement. However, the situation has been dragging on ever since with Ecclestone declaring last month that the future of the Italian GP at Monza was out of his hands.
