Indonesia turns to crowdfunding to pay for Haryanto's seat

Rio Haryanto's popularity in his home country may help him extend his F1 career, as the Indonesian government have launched an initiative to help pay for his Manor seat. Haryanto, who was signed as a Manor driver just weeks before the 2016 season began, with financial backing coming from the Indonesian government and state owned entities like Pertamina. At this early stage of his debut season, just three races in, the government are seeking to turn to public crowd funding to help give their driver a good chance of continuing in the sport next year.
