Mercedes avoids penalty for Hamilton

– Lewis Hamilton will start the Russian Grand Prix from 10th on the grid, after Mercedes mechanics worked on his car overnight and through Sunday morning to avoid a grid penalty.Hamilton suffered an MGU-H failure – the same issue that struck in China – in the closing stages of Q2 at Sochi Autodrom, meaning he could not take part in Q3, and leaving him 10th overall.Although teams can replace parts, Mercedes has been running a new fuel system this weekend, but had no spares on site – if the team reverted to an older spec, it would have resulted in a pit lane start.Mercedes therefore flew out a new fuel system by private jet overnight, so that it could be fitted ahead of Sunday...
